Welcome to Art of Wheelin! - The Beginning
About Myself
You might be asking yourself, who is this guy? Well, that's probably a complicated question, I will try to be brief.
I am in my fifties, a semi-retired father of two adult children whom I love and am very proud of. I am happily engaged to Angel, we have a Shepsky; which is an Alaskan Husky mixed with a German Sheppard designer breed. She is a very quiet dog for a half husky with the coat pattern of a German Sheppard. Her personality is very wild, like a Husky she is very scent-oriented and kind of all over the place, but like a German Sheppard she has been easy to focus and train; and is task-oriented like a German Sheppard.
My outdoor interests include hiking, camping, overlanding, and dog sledding; my outdoor hobbies include photography and off-roading. As you can see, I have a few outdoor interests however, due to my health I can't do a few of these. I have some other hobbies and interests, such as reading, writing, restoring my 1978 Mustang, building PCs, network design, and software programming. All of these are fascinating but are not the point of this blog.
My father-in-law got me into off-roading several years ago, occasionally we would get in his old Jeep YJ Wrangler that was built for off-roading and head up to AF Canyon or 5-mile Pass and spend a morning exploring trails. After my coma in 2015, we spent a couple of years just going up these trails and having fun nearly every weekend of the summer, my fiancé and I started joining him in Moab every Easter to do some trails there also, eventually in 2021 I traded in my 2012 Ford Mustang GT Convertible for the 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X.
About the Jeep
I drive a silver 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X that I named Grey Ghost. It has stock axles; Dana 30 front, Dana 44 rear, 35" tires, and a 4" Terraflex lift kit; Some other less important modifications include a hood, tailgate, and under door plastic rock guards, some rock sliders, Smittybilt front, and rear bumpers, a 12,000 lb Badlands winch, and braided brake lines. In the near future, I am planning on lockers front and rear, Falcon shocks, and a new front drive line. On my wish list but much further in the future; honestly these modifications may never happen, I would like to upgrade the axles to Dana 60s, and an Atlas transfer case.
Summary
I am excited and looking forward to sharing my photography, experiences, and knowledge with the online community.
